Key West Sports Academy Re-Opening Update: Registration NOW OPEN for Phase 1 Classes and Summer Camps!

Good morning Key West Sports Academy Families,

We are preparing to start PHASE 1 classes on Tuesday May 26th and we could not be more excited! We wanted to take a moment to answer some questions you may have:

Question: I paid tuition on March 31st, what did I get and how do I use it?

AnswerThank you so much for helping to keep us afloat by making your March 31st tuition payment! Typically that payment would have covered classes from March 30-April 25th (we ran payments a day late to give everyone extra time to drop if they did not want to pay). Since you made the payment you have had access to FREE online virtual training on three platforms: Live Zoom Classes, Amazing Kids 360 pre- recorded content, and Key West Sports Academy Virtual Gym via Google Drive. Additionally we gave you a make up token for each missed week, your make up tokens are in your parent portal and ready to be applied to classes (see the next question for details). AND you get 50% off tuition for May, June, and July (see below for details)!!!

Question: How do I use my make up tokens from the COVID closure?

Answer:To use your make up tokens start by logging in to your customer account HERE. Once you are logged in select "MAKEUPS" from the toolbar on the left side of the page or the drop down menu. Then select the student and a drop down will open showing the tokens available for use. Click "USE TOKEN" then select the date on which you would like to use the token and the class. Please note: an active enrollment is required for the use of make up tokens, so you must first re-enroll in classes then apply your make up tokens.

Question:How do I use my 50% tuition discount on classes for May, June, and July?

Answer: Please email info@keywestsportsacademy.com to request a Promotion Code and as soon as we have verified that your payment was completed we will send you the code. To use your discount: please login to your customer account HERE. Once you are logged in, select "CLASSES" from the toolbar and then select the class you wish to enroll in. Add the class to your cart and when you are ready to check out use your promotion code, the system will automatically take 50% off your class fee! Easy peasy lemon squeezey.

Question: My child is under 5 years of age but I paid on March 31st, what about us?

Answer: We will be still be giving you 50% for the first three payments as soon as we are able to accept children under 5 back in class! And you will still be able to use your make up tokens. All of the information above will apply just not until we can welcome our little ones back. We will keep you updated and have new codes specifically for our littles to re-enroll when the time comes.

Question: So I can't come in and watch classes during phase 1?

Answer: Unfortunately, no. Only athletes participating in class will be allowed in the facility during phase one. However you can still watch class! A password protected link will be sent out for each class so that you can watch class from the comfort of your car, or your couch, as you wish!

Question: I don't see any dance classes on the schedule?

Answer: Unfortunately these have been tough times and our coaches have all had to make the best decisions for themselves. We are sad to say that coach Katie will be moving out of state and coach Khassidi's family has been re-stationed else where. We will miss them both terribly, we love them just as much as your kids do! We are actively seeking new dance coaches (with some great potential candidates being screened ASAP). Children who were enrolled in the dance program and paid tuition on March 31st have a couple of options: 1. Try a tumbling, gymnastics, or ninja class OR 2. Hang tight while we get dance classes back up and running! While we wont be offering in person classes yet we do still have virtual class options continuing. If you paid tuition on March 31st we will be sending out links to two live classes per week with Twinkle Star Dance founder Tiffany Henderson, free for you! You can hang on to your make up tokens and a new discount code will be issued for dance (if you don't want to give gymnastics tumbling or ninja a try) once classes are able to resume.

Have a question not answered above? Please email us at info@keywestsportsacademy.com and we will get you an answer as soon as possible.

Need to know more about what we are doing to keep kids safe during our reopening? Read our COVID RE-OPENING PLAN HERE.

Ready to start classes again? As a thank you for returning during Phase 1 we are offering each participant who enrolls by May 25th in a Phase 1 class 25% off of one week of summer camp and continued Virtual Training for FREE!

We can't wait to see all of the kids back in the gym, we have missed you all so much! Parents, we miss chatting with you too and hope to be able to increase our capacity and re-open the parent area soon.

Sincerely,

Your Key West Sports Academy Family <3

Gym Updates for Families & Community Members

Good morning Key West Sports Academy Families!

First, we want to say a huge “thank you” to the community for your love and support as the last eight weeks have elapsed. We have realized that our Key West Sports Academy family is truly the best!

Second, we’re anticipating being able to safely reopen in May with some provisions!! We cannot tell you how excited we are to hear we could start to see some faces back in the gym soon!

That said, it’s important to us to ensure we’re keeping your family and our staff safe at all times. For that reason, we’ve been working hard on a 3-phase system of reopening slowly to ensure we can maintain adequate social distancing and comply with all regulations. We will continue to offer virtual training until every single family feels comfortable returning to the gym. We’re so grateful for your commitment to us over the past month, that we want you to know – we will be committed to you as well. We understand this could take weeks (or even months) and we will gladly continue those classes as long as necessary.

You can find our full, 3-phase opening plan HERE.

We hope to see lots of smiling faces back in the gym soon (in groups of less than 10 at a time of course).

Sincerely,

Suzanne

COVID-19 Update from Key West Sports Academy

Good afternoon Key West Sports Academy Families,

In light of recent developments in the COVID-19 situation Key West Sports Academy has ceased normal operations as of Friday March 20th 2020. We plan to re-open for normal operations with the Monroe County Schools on April 15th.

As we cease normal operations we move in to uncharted, very scary territory. Like many in our community we are unsure how we will continue to pay our staff and our bills. Despite this heavy uncertainty we remain resolved in the belief that socialization and movement are fundamental to childhood.

We are committed to ensuring that our kids have a safe way to continue to funnel their energy in these trying times. As such, we have been diligently working on virtual training systems for our kids to use at home. The dance portions of our virtual class system is ready for enrollment! And we expect to have ninja, gymnastics, and tumbling up within the week. Our virtual trainings are of a consistent nature with the training you receive in class on a weekly basis and will help your child to maintain the skills they have learned in class, if not improve them!

Moving forward we have several enrollment options for our families:

If you are able, please consider continuing to support our coaches by remaining enrolled in your classes. As a token of our extreme gratitude you will receive a 50% discount on May, June, and July’s tuition in addition to accumulating unlimited make-up class tokens while classes are ceased and beyond, until you choose to return to class. We will also be giving you FREE access to virtual training while in-person classes are cancelled. If you wish to remain enrolled no action is required on your part.

If you are not able to fully support our coaches during this time but still need a safe outlet for your athlete’s energy we are happy to offer virtual training at a discounted rate. You will not get any make-up tokens and your spot will not be held in your in-person class but you will be able to keep up with your skills. You may sign up to participate in virtual training by visiting our website and selecting the “sign up” option. Once in the parent portal please select “enrollments” from the menu bar and then “transfer” and “2020 Virtual Training”. Once your enrollment is transferred we will contact you with details on accessing your class!

If you need to say “bye” for now, we completely understand. We are waiving our normal 30 day drop policy for this crazy situation. To drop your enrollment you must log in to your parent account (this is how you signed up to begin with) select the “enrollments” tab and then “drop”. If you do not drop your class prior to the next billing cycle (March 30th) we will assume you are going with option #1 and want to keep your favorite coach employed.

For those of you who wish to continue training at home we are offering mat rentals. You may reserve your mat through our parent portal and pick it beginning Monday, March 23rd. Mat picks will be zero contact. Mats are thoroughly sanitized with a commercial grade hospital disinfectant prior to being placed on our front  steps at your scheduled pick up time.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us via email at info@keywestsportsacademy.com. Like many others we are doing everything we can to cut our costs during our down time so our phone line will not be available until we are back up and running. We sincerely appreciate your support this year, we love having you and your family as a part of our family and we cannot wait to get through this and get back to training!

Love always,

Your Key West Sports Academy family

A Letter to our Key West Sports Academy Families:
We will remain open during the “Extended Spring Break”

Good Morning KWSA Families,

I am sure that you all, much like myself, are overwhelmed with communication regarding COVID-19/Coronavirus. Unfortunately, it is such a rapidly evolving situation that constant communication is a necessity as we try to move forward making informed choices for the good of our families.

With the recent school closures there has been uncertainty as to whether or not we will keep Key West Sports Academy open and operational. We feel that it is EXTREMELY important for your kids to have something to look forward to each week. Socialization and play are fundamental to childhood and with schools being in-operational for a few weeks we feel that it is more important to remain open now than ever before. When this situation passes we want your kids to look back on it as a fun exciting time where they got ‘summer’ in the spring, not a time of uncertainty and fear. Kids deserve to be free of worry and anxiety, let’s leave those scary negative feelings to the adults (although we wish we could alleviate them for you as well grown ups!).

Kids and families are not going to stop gathering during this time. People will still go to the park and play on the playground, teenagers will still ride bikes down their streets. There will be interaction. By remaining open we hope to provide you with a safe and sanitary place for these interactions to happen. After all, are you going to bring a can of lysol with you to the public playground and spray everything before your little one plays? How about those movie theater seats? That might sound ludicrous but that is exactly what Key West Sports Academy is prepared to do!

We have heavily increased our sanitation and health/safety protocols and will continue to do so as this situation evolves. In addition to the health and safety measures that we have had for years KWSA has added the following to our regimen:

*NEW*: In order to “flatten” the number of people in our facility at any time, we ask that if your kiddo is 5+ please drop off. We will be assisting children in to the gym from your cars and we are working on a live streaming option for you to watch your child’s class. All we ask is that you please come to a complete stop as you are dropping them off, we know some of you won’t be able to wait to get them out of the house :-)
*NEW*: Anyone who has traveled recently (domestically and internationally) is asked to please take advantage of our liberal pandemic make-up policy and refrain from coming to our facility for 21 days, we will be giving make-ups for missed classes and camps.
*NEW*: We are looking at moving some classes (team programs primarily) out of the busier gym times to help maintain extremely low gathering numbers. *Team athletes will receive another email with updates regarding practice changes*.
Our facility is being fogged daily with a hospital grade aerosol disinfectant.
Students are asked to apply hand sanitizer each time they enter the floor (beginning of class, after each water break).
Mats and high touch surfaces are being wiped down with disinfecting wipes in between each class (we’ve always wiped the down at the beginning of each day and each night). Please note this may cause your class to begin 2-3 minutes late despite our best efforts to keep everything running on time!
We are limiting close personal contact. We love high fives but for the time being we will be doing “air fives” and skipping hugs and hand holding. Spotting will be limited for the time being.
Sanitation Stations have been spread out throughout the gym to keep it cleaner than ever.
We are no longer using stamps at the end of class, instead each student will receive a sticker.
For the time being, we will be forgoing the use of fabric props (like our twinkle bears) that are more difficult to keep clean.
If symptoms arise during class, children will be sent home and a make up token will be provided.

Now for the big changes:

Pandemic Make Up Policy: We will be offering unlimited make-ups for any classes and camps missed in the next 90 days (until June 19th 2020). Make-up tokens issued during this time will not expire as long as you are enrolled.
Refund Policy: Our policy has always been that all payments are non-refundable and non-transferable. While we are still not able to issue refunds at this time we will be offering account credit for anyone who does not feel comfortable attending spring break camp or hosting their birthday party despite our heavy sanitation protocols.
Spring Break Camp IS STILL ON! We are adding a second week of camp March 23-27.
If you are currently enrolled in spring break camp you will receive priority registration for the second week at the same rate that you enrolled for the first week. You must let us know by midnight on March 15th if you would like to enroll for a second week of camp in order to have a  guaranteed spot at your original rate.
We are limiting the number of enrollments to 25 children, those 25 children will be split in to 2-3 groups to keep as much space as possible between everyone.
There will be no touching during camp (and classes)! Tag style games will be played “mosquito-style” with a pool noodle or similar.

What can you do to help keep our gym clean and safe?

We encourage everyone to wash their hands upon entering our building.
Please stay home until you are fever free for 48 hours without the use of medication.
Please consider staying home if you are not feeling well or have a cough, we are moving to an unlimited make-up policy for the duration of this pandemic.
If you catch yourself touching your eyes, nose, or mouth please immediately wash your hands.
Consider waiting in your car while your children are in class instead of in the parent area. We will keep your kids safe and entertained inside and it will reduce the congestion of the spectator areas.

We will continue to monitor this situation daily, if not hourly, and adjust our operations as needed. I have gone back and forth on this decision for a week now, knowing that the probability of having to make a decision was high. The decision to remain open was based off of the numerous messages and emails we received yesterday after the school’s announced they were closing (despite the wishes of our local superintendent) asking us to PLEASE remain open for their kids. We appreciate the gravity of this situation and the need to protect our most vulnerable family members but we feel the need to protect our kids childhood is greater.

You know that we only want what is best for these kids. You know that our gym is safe. You know that our staff really don’t want a break. You know that small businesses are already beginning to struggle. And we SO appreciate your support. We hope to be able to continue to offer your families a safe and happy place to enjoy childhood for years to come.

Sincerely,

Coach Suzanne and the Key West Sports Academy Staff

A Letter to our Key West Sports Academy Families

At Key West Sports Academy we take health and safety very seriously. You may have some growing concerns regarding the transmission of germs in light of the COVID-19/Coronavirus pandemic. We want to make sure that you know we are doing our part to keep you and your families safe and healthy!

Exercise and socialization are a fundamental part of children’s health. However, as we all know kids are not always the cleanest. For years we have been doing our part to prevent the spread of germs by regularly cleaning and fogging the gym using hospital grade disinfectants and hand sanitizer has always been available and it’s use encouraged.

In light of recent community health updates we have proactively added additional protocols to our regular health and safety regimen:

Our facility is being fogged with a hospital grade aerosol disinfectant with increased regularity.
Students are asked to apply hand sanitizer each time they enter the floor (beginning of class, after each water break).
Mats and high touch surfaces are now being wiped down with disinfecting wipes in between each class.

We have always been diligent about the cleanliness of our facility. We are committed to continuing to ensure our gym is a safe and enjoyable place for everyone.

Thank you for being a valued member of our Key West Sports Academy family!

Sincerely,

Coach Suzanne and the Key West Sports Academy Staff
